Hello, everyone! I’m Mari, a writer for Arcadian Lighting, a fabulous place to find pendant lights, ceiling lights, and lighting fixtures in all styles and finishes online. I’m so excited to be visiting Pickcolours Blog today, with a guest post about beautiful toile wallpapers.
Designs originally known as Toile de Jouy were first created in the 1700s. Today, toile textiles and wallcoverings still feature naturalistic scenic designs printed in a single color on white, cream or other paler shade background.†Today, for your inspiration, we’ve pulled together eight of our favorite spaces with toile wallpapers. Here you will see some of the many lovely hues used to create the ever-appealing choices in toile wall coverings. Please enjoy!
Architectural Digest shows this bedroom with an intriguing cityscape toile chosen by interior designer Geoffrey Bradfield. It’s an interesting updated take on toile.
Here, another black and white toile wallpaper envelopes a pretty window seat. The upholstery and pillows in tiny black and white checks are a nice contrast to the large-scale toile pattern on the walls.
A soft green color palette makes for a relaxed bedroom design. Green on white toile is seen in the wallpaper, tailored bedskirt and decorative pillows on the comfy armchairs.
A bedroom awash in toile might be too busy, but the designer of this beautiful blue and white room has successfully used a single toile pattern (in different scales) for textiles and wallpaper to create a cheerful calm retreat. Pillows, wall sconces, trim on the bedding and a rug in mostly white with a bit of blue are in soothing contrast to the large swaths of toile. White painted wood looks stunning here.
This welcoming entryway shows how beautifully a single wall papered in toile can fit into a more contemporary space. The pink-on-gray design looks lovely adjacent to a solid gray wall and the all-white living room beyond.
A traditional bedroom gets the all-over toile treatment, in pretty red and white. A botanical rug with black background grounds the space and looks lovely with the toile. A curvy leopard print bench and the feminine chandelier add a touch of glam to the design.
Brilliant turquoise and white toile wallpaper and sofa upholstery provide a gorgeous background for mostly black and white furnishings. I love the contemporary black and white polka dot draperies against the more traditional Chinsoiserie wallpaper pattern. The black and turquoise hanging light fixture is an unexpected final touch.
A stylish mudroom is all dressed up in brown and white toile wallpaper. Functional, yet beautiful, baskets and interesting neutral rug pattern are perfect for this welcoming space. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
